“Lukey,” Jase says, and reaches for him.

And Luke, oh god, he can’t help it, he flinches.

And it’s like the world’s stopped.

Jase freezes, one hand outstretched, and hurt surges through him.

“No,” Luke is saying. “No, no, god, no.” And he grabs Jase’s hand, pulls him forward, kisses him, and it’s all kinds of desperate.

And then he buries his face in Jase’s neck, and sobs, because this is one place he should never be afraid.
