Scene 5-X

“Alright boys and girls,” Luke announces, sweeping into the living room. Trawl looks up, human heart in hand, and Thomas, who had otherwise been ignoring the proceedings, blanches, watching slowly congealing blood slide down the lieutenant’s arm. Luke grins. “As soon as you’re done there, we’re going to have to start packing these scumbags up. I’m afraid you three will have to share the cart with a dead body or six.”

If possible, Thomas goes greener, and swallows noisily.

Luke tries not to take too much joy in that, and fails miserably. “Sullivan, Wrens, you guys are on body duty; drag the other five out and load them into the cart. Fulk and I will clean up in here, and Thomas… well, Thomas’ll be incinerating the kitchen.”

“Lucky us.” Sullivan mutters, and he heaves himself to his feet, Herbert still in hand. “Would anyone be too insulted if I settled Herbert down in the cart before I started throwing dead bodies around? No? Good.” And he shuffles out into the main hall, Wrens catching up just in time to open the front door for him.

“I’m almost done here,” Trawl says, having apparently shoved the heart back into its owner. “I just want to weigh the liver, then I’ll stitch him back together.”
